Fuchs was one of the founders, with Erich Brauer, Rudolph Hausner and Wolfgang Hutter, of the Viennese phantastische Schule (Fantastic School) of painting and printmaking which had a profound influence on many artists in Europe. Fuch's inventive and precocious technique allowed him to achieve remarkable results in etching. His themes are frequently biblical and often depict surrealist landscape imagery.
